USD/KZT at closing of the day - 138.00/15 (indicators)

/IRBIS, Nov.30, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at closing of interbank currency market of Kazakhstan on November 30 tenge quotations towards US dollar equaled 138.00/15 tenge per dollar. Compared to the results of the previous day tenge lost 29 points on demand against US dollar and 34 points on supply. On main (morning) session weighted average rate of the dollar with TOD terms equaled 137.90 (+0.17) tenge per dollar and closing quotations - 137.91/92. Additional day session in USD with TOD and evening trades with SPT terms were without results. Trend of strengthening dollar based on interbank quotations were traced vividly during the day. Spreads did not exceed normal working limits. Rates of interbank "overnight" deposits are at 1/5 APR, which shows that banks have enough free funds. This is the second day the currency market of the country demonstrates firming of the dollar. It was obvious from the trades of the main session, that the demand of the banks of the second tier for the dollar was high, and the sellers were successful in raising the market. Dealers' mood changed some, and now they are not confident in falling dollar. This day showed that attempts are being made to reverse the trend of an American currency. After analyzing the results of the day, IRBIS analysts made a conclusion that probability of growing for the dollar on KASE trades on Wednesday was higher than of its decrease.
