USD/KZT at the day closing - 140,42/62 (indicators)

/IRBIS, Oct.20, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at the moment of October 20
Kazakhstan's OTC-market closing tenge/dollar quotations has made
140,42/62 tenge per dollar at the average weighted exchange rate of 140,48
(-0,32) and session closing quotations of 140,44/46.
By the dealers interbank quotations, tenge as against of the previous day
closing increased by 8 points both on demand and on supply.
The interbank dollar quotations after ending of exchange trades both on
demand, and on supply changed practically synchronously. At that any
expressed tendency was not observed.
The variations of spreads after dinner have made from 15 up to 21 points, at
average 19. In comparison with the previous day of basic change of the
given parameter was not observed.
The quotations of the interbank overnight tenge deposits continued to fall
after 3 time decrease (from 12/22 at the morning to 4/12 by 4:00 p.m. Almaty
time) and to the day closing have made 2 (demands) on 9 (supply) p.a. The
short money demand has decreased sharply and that the banks of the
second tier have not conducted today any on repo opening.
The market indicators testify that the short-term liquidity of the banks of
the second tier has grown, and tenge deficiency is ended. Money from the State
Securities redemption will appear on the market tomorrow, and the banks will
hardly miss an opportunity to restore its currency net positions.
The IRBIS forecast on Thursday: high opening and essential increase of
dollar demand. The dealers, most likely, will speculate for the dollar rise
that can caused resulting growth of dollar rate.
At the same time, the restoration of the banks liquidity can have tomorrow a
small effect. The IRBIS experts expect essential growth of dollar only by
Thursday's evening.
