/KASE, May 13, 13/ – Kazakhtelecom (Astana), securities of which are
officially listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), provided to KASE
the following information:

On May 11, Kazakhtelecom and Turkmentelecom completed construction
and junction of fiber-optic networks with participation of Kazakhstan
and Turkmenistan Presidents.
Kazakhtelecom and Turkmentelecom completed construction and junction
of telecommunication networks using SDH with further transition to DWDM.
The junction of telecommunication networks in Begdash (Turkmenistan) and
Temirbaba (Kazakhstan) will allow joining through Kazakhtelecom network
to Turkmenistan, Afganistan and Iran networks and will open traffic for
Turkmenistan through Kazakhstan to Russia, Europe and South East Asia.
In order to enter the market of transit capacity Kazakhtelecom implements
modernization of existing junctions and construction of new ones. At present,
the company uses 15 junctions with 12 operators from 4 countries (including
Turkmenistan). The total capacity of junctions – over 290 Gbps.
