Samruk-Energy (Kazakhstan) announces 2013 Q1 operating results

/KASE, May 8, 13/ – JSC "Samruk-Energy" (Astana), whose bonds are officially
listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), has provided KASE with the
following press-release of May 8, 2013:

JSC "Samruk-Energy" (hereinafter – the Company) in the first quarter of 2013
operated in the electricity and coal industries in accordance with approved
plans.
8,564 mln kWth of electricity was produced across the group in the reporting
period. which by 75% exceeded the comparable figure from the first quarter of
last year. The considerable increase in the actual electricity output is related
to transfer of a 50% stake of Samruk-Kazyna in Bolat Nurzhanov GRES-1 to the
Company's share capital, as well as with the higher demand for electricity
produced by Zhambyl GRES and Moinak GES.
Volumes of electricity sold by the distributor and value of transmission
services increased compared with the same period of last year by 42% and 48%
and made up 2,326 mln kWth and 3,566 mln kWth respectively, which is related to
incorporation in the balance sheet of 100% holding in JSC "East-Kazakhstan
regional energy company, as well as an increase in electricity consumption in
regions.
11.4 mln tons of coal were produced, which is 7% less than the year before, due
to temperature modes power stations operated in.
Total revenues for the first quarter 2013 made up KZT42,199 mln. Compared
with the similar period of last year increased by 11,238 mln, or и 36%.
Based on results of the 1st quarter 2013 the net income made up KZT16,861
mln.
Overall, the total investments across Samruk-Energy in the reporting period
made up KZT7,894 mln.
