Tenge is comparatively stable in OTC market of Kazakhstan

/IRBIS, Sep.87, 99/ - As it was informed earlier, at closing of the KASE session the tenge per US dollar quotation were fixed at the level of 140.95/141.00. Weighted average rate - 141.0 Following are the quotations of Kazakhstan interbank currency market provided by dealers to the REUTERS information system (the interval is about an hour): 140.95/141.00 - Exchange closing, 140.60/75 140.45/65 140.60/68 140.70/85 140.60/80 - at 16:00 p.m. Almaty time By the OTC dealers' quotations, tenge is stable. Quotation are less than weighted average exchange rate and less than closing quotation. Interbank overnight rates increased by 25 (demand) and 45 (supply) points. The dealers mark, that there is serious deficiency in the market, and majority tray to sell dollar. However the yesterday's positive news effected market and today's dollar race on KASE decreased banks' creditworthiness. It looks like the market is close to the downturn correction.
