National atomic company Kazatomprom (Kazakhstan) announces signing of co-operation memorandum with Zhambyl regional administration and KEGOC

/KASE, November 22, 12/ - JSC "National atomic company "Kazatomprom" (Astana), whose bonds are officially listed at Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), has provided KASE with the following press-release of November 13, 2012: quote As a result of joint agreements a Memorandum on co-operation in the field of development and construction of a pool of solar power stations was signed between Zhambyl regional administration, NAC Kazatomprom JSC and KEGOC JSC. Signing of this memorandum is the first stage of implementation of practical steps aimed at Kazakhstan's sustainable economic growth by way of increasing the share of renewable and alternative energy sources. This project will become practical implementation of Kazakhstan's President N. Nazarbaev's initiatives under partnership program "Green bridge" and global energy and ecology strategy. Construction in Zhambyl region of a pool of solar power stations with capacity of 20 MWt each with the use of locally made solar modules will have a positive multiplicative effect on Kazakhstan's economy development. Zhambyl regional administration carries out organization and technical support. Kazatomprom will ensure manufacturing and delivery of main components of solar power stations - photoelectric modules meeting international standards. JSC "KEGOC" will provide assistance in obtaining technical permits required for connection to electric networks and organization and technical support during the project implementation. Natural climatic conditions of Zhambyl region are a source of considerable energy potential for use of renewable energy sources and construction of solar power stations, wind turbines and miniature hydro power stations. Power stations driven by alternative energy sources will provide an opportunity for covering the deficit of electric energy in the region, improving the environment.
