/Almaty office of REUTERS, Aug.24, 99/ - Eurasian energy corporation
(EEC) in the north of Kazakhstan plans to increase the production of coal up
to 12.0 million tons from 10.9 million tons of last year, and electricity up
to 8.0 Megawatts from 7.7 Megawatts of last year, said the president of EEC
Abduazim Rustambaev.
"Production of coal and electricity will increase this year and it is due to
stable work of our main consumers, metallurgical companies - Aksu
ferroalloy plant, Sokolovsko-Sarybaiskoe GPO, Ispat-Karmet", said
Rustambaev.
He mentioned that EEC shipped 420.000 - 430.000 tons of coal to Omsk
region of Russia daily and planned to increase up to 2.0 million tons by the
end of the year. Last year this number was equal to 600.000 tons.
"Neighboring Russian power plants were built to consume our Ekibastuz
coal. For Russia it is not a good idea to stop using Ekibastuz coal now,
because it means re-equipment of these power plants", said Rustambaev.
Eurasian energy corporation incorporates Vostochnyi coal mine in Ekibastuz
and one of the biggest hydro power plants in the north of the country -
Ermakovsrkaya, the corporation is a member of group of companies of
Eurasian bank.
