/IRBIS, 06.08.99/ - According to REUTERS at closing of the Kazakhstan
over-the-counter exchange market were fixed the next rates KZT per USD:
131.58 (demand) / 131.78 (supply) with weighted average exchange
price 131.51 (-0.16) and closing quotations 131.59 / 131.65.
In comparison with closing of the previous day the tenge quotations
increased for demand by 0.02 tenge per dollar, and decreased for supply by
0.05 tenge per dollar.
After closing of trade the quotations of dollar in the interbank exchange
system varied about the average weighted market rate. The news about the
Stepashin's cabinet resignation in some degree affects the Kazakhstan
market, and dollar rate has increased in the REUTERS system from
131.59 / 131.72 to 131.60 / 132.75. This situation was used by dealers for
selling the dollars on advantageous terms.
The prices of supply changed in the quite width interval: from 131.59 to
131.72, while prices of demand were practically changeless.
In comparison with the yesterdays quoting in the REUTERS information
system was carried out more active, what can be explained as influence of
the Russia crisis.
The main feature of the day is participants' attempt to sell dollars under very
high prices using the negative Russian news. However, as the experience
shows (and it, due to often resignations of the Russia government, is quite
rich), such speculations for the dollar rise hardly can be successful. There
are another strong factors, which capable to influence the Kazakhstan
exchange market.
According to the IRBIS' analysts opinion, on Tuesday dollar rate despite the
Russia crisis will do not change remarkable.
