JSC NC "KazMunayGas" announces that Rompetrol Rafinare (oil refining arm of The
Rompetrol Group), carried out an extensive program of technical education of
nine operators of "Agip KCO Kazakhstan", the company in charge of the first
stage of project "Kashagan", the largest oil field discovered for the last 40
years.
- It is very important to us to share with our Kazakh colleagues our know-how
and experience we have gathered over almost 30 years of working in this field,
the more so The Rompetrol Group is part of the National Company KazMunayGas. We
also trained staff of Atyrau oil refinery and Pavlodar oil chemistry plant, says
Arman Kairdenov, general director of Rompetrol Rafinare.
The task of the programme "Training at workplace" was to introduce the nine
operators to the oil refinery flow at "Petromidia" platform, the most important
asset of The Rompetrol Group. At the same time, the programme was designed so as
to allow mastering specific knowledge regarding production process, control of
key parameters, safety issues and labour protection, environment protection, as
well as routine tasks of operators at DAV (Vacuum and Atmospheric Distillation
Unit), DGRS (DGRS - Gas Desulphurization and Sulphur Recovery Unit) and water
purification.
Specialists from "Agip" were selected with regard to their skills, knowledge and
abilities, as well as based on their ability to learn and distribute what they
learnt to their colleagues in Kazakhstan.
At the end of each stage the operators underwent a series of theoretical and
practical tests, and their scores were the highest. Moreover, they had to solve
simulated incidents such as emergency shutdown of an oil refinery, launch and
other failures.
Enterprise North Caspian Operating Company B.V. (NCOC) operates in the name of
seven members of the consortium (KazMunayGas, Eni, Shell, ExxonMobil, Total,
ConocoPhillips and INPEX), as an operator appointed in accordance with the
Agreement on Sharing Products of the Northern Part of the Caspian Sea dated
1997. Agip KCO is in charge of the first stage of Kashagan project.
