Trading on the U.S. stock market on Tuesday once again
ended with decrease of main indices on negative statistical
data and news from Europe. The U.S. Commerce Department
reported that GDP in the third quarter of 2011, according to
revised data from the previous quarter increased by 2.0% on
annualized basis. Earlier, the Ministry of Trade of United
States reported that, according to preliminary data, the U.S.
economy in the third quarter of 2011 grew by 2.5%.
European stocks also finished the day in negative territory.
Pressure was exerted by results of placement of government
bonds of Spain with maturities of 3 and 6 months. As a result
of the auction Treasury of Spain placed three-month notes
totaling EUR 2 billion, with maturity of 5.22%. The volume of
offering of six-month notes was 966 million euros, yield -
5.328%.
FTSE 100 Index - stock index, calculated by Financial Times based on rates
of 100 companies with the largest capitalization on the list of the London Stock
Exchange.
DAX - Germany's stock index. Calculated as weighted average
capitalization value of
stock prices of the largest companies in Germany.
CAC 40 - France's stock market index. Calculated as weighted average
capitalization value stock prices of 40 largest companies whose shares
are traded
on the stock exchange Euronext Paris.
BEL20 - key stock index, Belgium. Calculated on the Brussels Stock
Exchange. The index comprises 10 to 20 companies.
MADX Index - main index of the Madrid area, calculated on the basis of
capitalization of the shares of leading companies in Spain.
SMI-includes shares of 20 largest companies traded on the Swiss
Exchange.
S&P 500 - one of the major U.S. stock indices, a basket which included
500 selected companies in the U.S. having the largest capitalization.
DJIA - the oldest among the existing U.S. market indexes, covers the 30
largest U.S. companies.
Nasdaq Composite Index - a composite index NASDAQ, includes
more than five thousand companies (both American and foreign), which
are in listing NASDAQ.
MSCI Europe - a composite index of market capitalization of developed
stock
markets in Europe. Since March 2002, MSCI Europe Index consists of
the following
16 developed market country indices: Austria, Belgium, Denmark,
Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway,
Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
