On the one hand support was provided by the message of the decision of Greek authorities to abandon the idea of holding a referendum for approval of an agreement reached with the EU to obtain a new tranche of aid in exchange for a fiscal austerity plan. On Thursday, Prime Minister George Papandreou, speaking before Parliament, made it clear that he rejected the idea of referendum on the issue. On the other hand, investors are still aware of the fact that the EU and the IMF did not give Greece the next tranche of financial assistance, which will adversely affect the stability of the eurozone.
