On October 4, 2011 Subsidiary Organization JSC VTB Bank (Kazakhstan) opened a branch in the city of Aktau. The branch is located in the city's Tamshaly residential community, 14th micro-district.

Aktau is the administrative center of Mangistau region, which boasts a well developed oil and gas industry delivering more than 90% of the region's total output. The sea port Aktau lying on the Caspian sea's eastern shore is the only sea port in Kazakhstan, which handles international transport of various dry goods, crude oil and petroleum products.
