NCOC for violating the ban on issue paid out nearly 700 million KZT

/IRBIS, March 17, 2011/ - Approximately 700 million KZT paid a consortium
of North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) violated a ban on the activity
in the period from September to December 2010, the press office of the
Prosecutor General.
Noted that the emission permits to the environment NCOC been suspended
since 25 September in connection with ecodisorders. Ministry of
Environment of Kazakhstan blamed if the company in environmental
pollution in the form of oil slicks and industrial wastes. The license of the
company was restored in December last year.
"Meanwhile, it was found that, despite the suspension of permits for
emissions into the environment, the company during the period from
September 25 to December 31, continued to implement its business" -
indicates the General Prosecutor's Office.
It is noted that the representation of specialized environmental prosecutors
Atyrau region, Zhaiyk-Caspian Department of Ecology, the company NCOC
brought to administrative responsibility with a fine amounting to 198 287 725
KZT and made an order for compensation for harm caused to the
environment in the amount of 489,726,628 KZT.
"Total 688,214,353 KZT, which is now fully reimbursed by the state revenue"
- it's to be confirmed in a statement.
NCOC is the successor of the international consortium Agip KCO, which
developed the Kashagan - one of the largest oil reserves in the world.
Shareholders of the consortium are to Shell, "KMG", Eni, ExxonMobil, Total,
ConocoPhillips and Inpex. NCOC functions include oversight of all the works
on the project, guiding the planning, coordination, reservoir simulation,
conducting conceptual studies, drawing up plans for an initial exploration
and interaction with government agencies on behalf of the entire enterprise.
