Kazatomprom plans to produce in the second half of year 9.7 tons of uranium

/IRBIS, September 29, 2010/ - JSC National Atomic Company Kazatomprom
plans to produce in the second half of 9.7 tons of uranium, announced on
Sept. 28 press office.
The report said that according to the corrected plans, mining of uranium in the
second half of 2010 will amount to 9,770 tons. According to the company, the
volume of uranium production in Kazakhstan in the first half of 2010
amounted to 8,452 tons, up 42% over the same period last year.
Total revenues of JSC Kazatomprom for the first half of 2010 increased by
58% over the same period in 2009. This increase in revenues (almost 2-fold)
due to growth in sales volume of uranium production. Net income for the first
6 months of the year also increased by 64% over the same period last year.
JSC Kazatomprom - the national carrier of Kazakhstan for export of uranium
and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for power stations, special
equipment, technologies and dual-use materials.
Its principal activities are the exploration, production of uranium, production of
nuclear fuel cycle, reactor construction, nuclear power plants, and production
of construction materials, energy, science, social welfare and training.
