/IRBIS, July 30, 2010/ - In the U.S., the number of initial applications for
unemployment benefit during the week that ended July 24, 2010, compared
with that of the previous week fell by 11,000 and reached 457 000. Such data
are announced on July 29 U.S. Department of Labor (US Department of
Labor).
To clarify this, the number of primary applications for the week totaled
468,000that ended July 17, 2010, but not 464,000 as previously reported.
The average number of initial applications for unemployment benefits in the
United States for four weeks (to July 24 of this year) amounted to 452,500
thousand, a decrease of 4,500 compared with corrected figure for the
previous four-week period, fixed at 457,000.
