Corp., Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell and ConocoPhillips will invest one billion
dollars into the new system eliminate leakage of oil, Reuters reports citing the
statements of the companies participating in the project.
The new system will be able to collect at a depth of up to 3 thousand meters
up to 100 thousand barrels of oil, the company said, who have decided to
finance the project after the accident at BP oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
The mobility of this system will allow bringing it into effect within 24 hours. It
will be equipped with a wide range of equipment and can be used in various
weather conditions.
The new system will consist of special underwater equipment to localize
leakage, which will be mounted collectors and pipelines to deliver oil on board
the tanker, confirmed in a statement.
The project listed companies will create a non-profit organization of Marine
Well Containment Company. The project will start soon, the timetable for its
completion has not yet reported.
