/IRBIS, February 23, 2010/ - In connection with the accession of Kazakhstan to
the Customs Union consumer price index did not increase, said Feb. 22 in the
online-conference on the topic: "The Customs Union: new opportunities for the
economy of Kazakhstan" - has added Mr. Bolat Zhamishev in the portal of
Minister of Finance Republic of Kazakhstan BNews.kz.
"The consumer price index, based on patterns of consumption, in January, has
not grown. It is expected that it would be acceptable and in February, although
the rates of customs duties, act, starting in January. But it is clear that
products from third countries, which significantly increased duties, in principle
they can rise in price, including by reason of those same duties", - said the
minister.
He noted that price changes in urban and rural areas in connection with the entry
into the Customs Union will be different.
"In cities where there is more consumed food from foreign countries, it is clear
that this will affect the consumer price index. In rural areas, the structure of
power still easier, and half of us live in the countryside. If we take into
account that we have today a third of vegetables and fruits imported from Russia,
a large proportion of Russian goods in the supply of oils, fats and dairy
products. As for flour and bread products, there is more local products. The meat,
too - in the countryside is a local production, in urban areas - is meat from
foreign countries", - said B. Zhamishev.
