The head of Ministry of Economy - GDP of Kazakhstan in January - September grew by 4 %

/INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN, Astana, October 13, 08/ - GDP growth in
Kazakhstan in January - September 2008 made 4 % compared to the same
period of last year, Bakhyt Sultanov informed, the Minister of Economy and
Budget Planning.
"According to our estimation, it is 4 %. But it is preliminary data, we have to
finish calculating" - he said to journalists on Monday in Astana.
"This data is on the basis of indicators of spheres activity, which Statistics
Agency provides us" - he added.
As informed, GDP of republic in January - September 2007 grew by 9.7 %.
"The reason (of growth recession - IF-K) is clear. It is world economy
recession, forecasts of international financial institutions (...), decreasing
of bid and ask on world commodity markets, in particular it reflected in
production of such companies as MetalSteal , SSOMPA and other ore mining
companies" - B. Sultanov said.
"In the whole, we have different conditions of spheres: growth in whole and
different spheres production decreasing" - he noted.
At the same time, answering journalists, whether the forecast on GDP growth
for the current year is retained, B. Sultanov said:" we'll retain it for the
year".
The government forecast growth of actual GDP of Kazakhstan in 2008 to
make 5-7 %.
