Kazakhmys QUOTATIONS GREW by 4.6% ON WEDNESDAY due to the message ON possible increase of the state share to 15%

/INTERFAX, London, March 26, 08/ - The quotations of shares of Kazakhmys Plc, the largest Kazakhstan copper producer, grew by 4.6% to 16.17 sterling pounds per share at trades on Wednesday, due to the message on intention of the state, which currently is a minority shareholder, to increase its share in the company to 15%. At that, earlier, the cost of the company's shares grew by 6.3% - to 16.39 at the trades of London Metal Exchange on Wednesday. Since the beginning of the year Kazakhmys securities increased by 43%. Earlier, Kazakhmys confirmed to be conducting preliminary negotiations with the Kazakhstan government. During the negotiations different variants have been discussed, including the possibility of purchasing of new raw assets in Kazakhstan, in exchange for the state purchasing a share in the corporation. It is reported, Kazakhmys owns 14.6% shares of the raw material holding ENRC, which offered 21.3% shares (with account to option) and attracted 1.5 bn. pounds in December. Moreover, the Kazakhstan government is also a shareholder of ENRC. At the beginning of March, ENRC announced to be investigating the possibility of a deal with Kazakhmys. [2008-03-27]
