The new head of Kazakhtelecom was confirmed

/INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN, Astana, October 9, 06/ - Askar Zhumagaliyev
was confirmed as head of Kazakhtekecom JSC.
"On October 9 the board of directors of Kazakhtelecom JSC had elected the
new chairman of administration (the president) of Kazakhtelecom JSC Askar
Zhumagaliyev", - the agency Interfax-Kazakstan was informed in the press-
service of Kazakhstan holding of state assets' management Samruk JSC.
34 years' old A.Zhumagaliyev had replaced 50 years' old Khayrat
Karibzhanov in the position of president of Kazakhtelecom JSC. Before this
appointment A.Zhumagaliyev was the head of state agency of information
and connection.
Kazakhtelecom is the leading operator of connection in Kazakhstan.
Company provides the services of local, inter-cities, international voice
telephony, services of data transferring, "Kulan" satellite network services,
wire radio broadcasting and so on.
The shareholders with the stake of ownership of common shareholdings of
Kazakhtelecom JSC as of July 1 are holding of state assets' management
Samruk (55.6%), BODAM B.V. (16.9%), The Bank of New York (10.2%),
Сentral Аsian Industrial Holdings N.V. (9.6%).
The decree about creation of state holding Samruk the president of Kazakhstan
Nursultan Nazarbayev had signed in the end of January of this year.
The Government had determined five national companies state stakes of which
had to be delivered to the holding at the first stage: Kazakhtelecom JSC,
Kazpochta JSC, company of electrical networks' management KEGOC JSC, oil and
gas company NC KazMunayGas JSC, and national railway company Kazakhstan
temir joly JSC (KTJ).
Kazpochta, KEGOC, KazMunayGas and KTJ are wholly state companies.
