/KASE, July 27, 06/ - NAC Kazatomprom JSC (Almaty), whose bonds are traded in Kazakhstan stock exchange's (KASE) official securities list under "A" category, has spread press release, saying: Quotation start On July 25, 2006 meeting with part of the head of Federal agency for atom energy of RF Sergey Kirienko under the upper hand of Prime minister of Kazakhstan Danial Akhmetov on matter of Program of strategic partnership of Russian Federation and Republic Kazakhstan in the field of utilization of atom energy in peaceful aims took place in Aktau city at MAEC- Kazatomprom LLP. The mentioned program was established on January 25, 2006 on the basis of Joint petition of heads of two states - President of Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbaev and President of Russian Federation V. Putin about partnership in the field of utilization of atom energy in peaceful aims. The program provides 6 major directions of partnership: - Partnership in the field of production of nuclear fuel; - Partnership in the field of atom power engineering; - Development of transport infrastructure of supply world market with uranium production; - Progressing in normative-legal basis of Kazakhstan-Russian partnership on utilization of atom energy in peaceful aims; - Partnership in scientific-technological field; - Partnership in the field of preparation of employees for atom branch. Memorandum between NAC Kazatomprom JSC (Kazakhstan) and Techsupplyexport OJSC (Russia) on establishing joint ventures (JV) was signed within frameworks of Program of strategic partnership in the field of nuclear fuel production. The first JV will be founded on the territory of Republic Kazakhstan in the aim of fulfillment of mining of natural uranium in order to supply reactors of Russian design with fuel. The second JV will be founded on the territory of Russian Federation in the aim of fulfillment of isotope uranium concentration. Filling these projects in assets after Technical-economical basing will be made on an equal footing: - assets on uranium extraction will bring Kazakhstan side in, - assets on uranium concentration - Russian side. Within frameworks of Program on strategic partnership for developing atom power engineering, it is planned to establish JV between NAC Kazatomprom JSC and Atomstroyexport (Russia). The result of work of this JV will be the projecting of Russian-Kazakhstan atom reactor with power unit of the new design WBER-300, authors of which is ECBME after Afrikantov. For today there is a task in front of JV to finish work on project-estimated documentary of this reactor. Construction of reference power unit of the new design with capacity of 300 megawatt is planned to start on the territory of Republic Kazakhstan. The necessity of construction of reactor of this type on the territory of Kazakhstan is resulting from technical requirements of energy systems of the republic. All existent reactors for today are reactors of capacity 1000 and more megawatt, which are not matchable for energy networks of Kazakhstan, differing with big extension. Seeing that, when stopping reactor for reboot of fuel, it is needed bigger volumes of energy reservation. This reactor with power unit of the new design WBER-300 will be export stage of Russian-Kazakhstan JV for realization it to third countries of the world. Its main constructional advances are based on approved and well- recommended reactors of sea fleet of Soviet Union, having more than 6000 reactor-years of accident-free work. This reactor, according to its technical characteristics, will be featured as reactor of the last generation, at that, considering its capacity of 300 megawatt, it will be the single reactor of such capacity, which is demanded by market. Also there were heard suggestions on partnership in scientific-technical sphere at the meeting. The task was commissioned to Ministry of energy and mineral resources of RK to finish Program in the realm of science within one month. There were no notes on all remained directions of strategic partnership between Russian Federation and republic of Kazakhstan in the field of utilization of atom energy in peaceful aims, objectives of the parts were confirmed. Foundation of above-mentioned Russian-Kazakhstan Joint ventures is targeted at realization of the strategic program of Kazatomprom on establishing vertically integrated atom company.
