KazakhGold put in production the gold by method of heap leaching

/INTERFAX, London, July 13, 06/ - Kazakhstan gold producing company KazakhGold Group Limited put in production the gold by method of heap leaching at open gold-ore mine Kaskabulak, which is located in the east of Kazakhstan, said in the official message of the company. As it was informed earlier, KazakhGold at the beginning of this year received 5 new licenses on mine workings in Kazakhstan: Southern Karaultube (9.3 square km.) and Kyzylsorsk (60 square km.) in Akmola oblast (in the north), Pridorozhnoe (390 square km.) and Kaskabulak (491 square km.), and also on zones NN1 and 2 following fields Akshatau (56.6 square km.) in Karaganda obl. (in the center). Exploring and further mining workings will be accomplished by enterprises: BarrickKazakhaltyn Exploration LLP, established recently by KazakhGold jointly with the company Barrick Gold on equal-stake basis. KazakhGold is mother company of Kazakhstan Mining and Smelting concern Kazakhaltyn JSC. KazakhGold at the beginning of December offered 25% of shares as global depositary receipts (GDR) on London stock exchange. MSC Kazakhaltyn produced in year 2005 1.91 tones of unprocessed gold, that is twice bigger than the indicator of year 2004. At that, for the first time last year Kazakhaltyn arranged production of alloy gold as bars of Dore alloy. In year 2005 the company made 1.199 tones of such gold золота. [2006-07-13]
