Kazakhstan wants to build oil refinery in Turkey for its oil - Nazarbayev

/REUTERS, Almaty, May 22, 06/ - Kazakhstan and Turkey agree about
constructing oil refinery on shore of the Black Sea, where Kazakhstan oil will
be delivered, said the president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in
interview to local television channels.
"The entered engagement about construction of oil refinery by Kazakhstan
investors on shore of the Black Sea in Turkey is very important," is said in
text of interview, published on president's site www.akorda.kz.
"That is, we will be able to transport crude oil from Novorossiysk to Turkey
and sell refined product there".
According to Nazarbayev's words, construction of oil refinery will allow to
solve the problem, connected with insufficient carrying capacity of Bosporus
strait.
In nearest future Kazakhstan plans to substantially increase oil supply by
CPC pipeline, which leads to Novorossiysk, Russian Black Sea port.
"If we increase oil supply to Novorossiysk up to 67 m. tones, the additional
30-40 m. tones might not pass due to limited abilities of Bosporus," cites
Nazarbayev's text.
He did not name companies, which will be occupied with the construction of
the oil refinery.
Currently in Kazakhstan there are three oil refineries that work primarily for
domestic market. The state company Kazmunaygas also tries to obtain
Lithuanian plant Mazeikiu Nafta.
