beginning of quote
Air Astana Joint-Stock Company ("the Company" and, together with its subsidiary FlyArystan, "the Group") reports that it has taken note of the announcement that BAE Systems plans to sell a portion of its stake in the Group through an accelerated order book formation process. Detailed information about the transaction is contained in the relevant public disclosures.
BAE Systems has been a key partner of Air Astana since its inception. The Group was established in 2001 as a joint venture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems. As part of the 2024 IPO, BAE Systems reduced its stake to 16.95% and since then has remained a shareholder supporting the airline, and serves on the Board of Directors. We recognize that the Group is no longer a core asset within the wider business of BAE Systems and welcome the addition of new shareholders to the Group at this important stage in its development. We also note an increase in free float of shares as a result of the sale. Air Astana recently announced two largest aircraft orders in the Group's history, reflecting its confidence in the region's growth prospects.
