IMF does not consider threat of dollar's free fall

/News.kkb.kz, November 4, 03/ - The managing director, Horst Kehler, said during the interview with Austrian television that he does not consider sharp threat of dollar's fall. According to Kehler dollar exchange rate decline fully corresponds to the highest payment deficit of the USA.

"This does not call for anxiety. What would have been caused a threat, is had dollar lost value in free fall- Kehler noted. - But I don't think that such situation would be a significant threat, especially when economic growth in the USA is increasing". On Monday, dollar unexpectedly appreciated relatively to euro by the monthly highest amount.

Kehler added that there are still reasons to worry in respect to high deficits in both developed and developing countries. Politicians should take this problem more seriously, the head of IMF said.

However, the head of the Ministry of Finance of the USA, John Snow declared on Monday that Chinese, who are unwilling to abolish a fixed yuan rate relative to dollar, are liable for disorders in US economy. Along with dollar Chinese goods are becoming less costly, what encourages export. Goods are promoted in many countries including the US, where plenty of import results in deficit of balance of payments.
