Iraq's oil reserves are enough for almost 129 - British Petroleum

/Kazakhstan today, November 27, 02/ - According to calculations of the company British Petroleum, if present production rates stay the same Iraq's oil reserves will be enough for almost 129 years. This data are given on the site of the agency Washington ProFile.

According to BP Statistical Review of World Energy, Iraq has reserves, which are the second in the world according to the size, (112.5 bn barrels of oil), yielding only to Saudi Arabia (261.8 bn barrels of oil). Reserves of Kuwait are estimated at 98.6 bn barrels, Iran - 89.7, Russia - 48.6.

Taking into account exploited fields, specialists of British Petroleum calculated that Kuwaiti fields will be empty in 128 years, Saudi's - in 85, Iran's and Azerbaijan's - in 67, Russia's - in 20, Turkmen's - in 12, American - in 10 years.

At present need of countries of the world in oil equals to about 77 m barrels a day.

According to the information of Washington ProFile, in order to secure oneself from oil crisis, Governments of industrially developed countries, which are major oil consumers, create reserves, which are enough at least for providing the country's energy systems during 90 days. In October of 2002 state reserves of 26 industrially developed countries of the world equaled to1.3 bn barrels, private companies' reserves - 2.5 bn.
