In May 2001 volume of deals in GB at the KASE totaled KZT66,201.7 mln
/IRBIS, June 1, 01/ - In May of year 2001, 935 deals for a total of KZT66,201.7 mln ($453.0 mln at the current exchange rate of KASE) were made in all sectors of the government bonds (GB) market of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange. In last month, total volume of 853 deals totaled KZT69,914.2 mln ($480.3 mln).
In purchase and sale sector 415 deals were made for a total of KZT24,732.3 mln. In comparison with previous month the sector's turnover rose by 0.3%. Statistical indicators and turnover structure are given in the table (in parentheses - comparable figures of previous month).

In repo sector of KASE 520 deals were registered for a total of KZT41,469.4 mln in May. Corresponding figure for the previous month - 511 deals for KZT45,248.0 mln.
In May the share of the Exchange's turnover in total volume of the deals made on the Kazakhstani secondary market of GB based on comparable operations (including euronotes and repo deals) equaled 88.7% (in April - 80.0%).

In year 2000 volume of GB operations at KASE estimated at KZT446,886.9 mln. In first five months of 2000 corresponding figure equaled KZT100,688.3 mln. Thus, compared to similar period of 2000, in this year volume of GB operations at KASE increased 3.3 times, or KZT231.3 mln.
