Kazakhstan to call Chevron for help in overcoming petroleum products deficit
/IRBIS, Aug.29, 00/ - REUTERS informs that the prime-minister of Kazakhstan, Kasymjomart Tokaev called Chevron (USA) for participate in overcoming the deficit of petroleum products on domestic market.
The prime-minister said that the situation on domestic petroleum market was not balanced and it was their policy to maintain the balance of the domestic market.
Tokaev says that Tengizchevroil JV had to supply 25,000 tons of oil to Atyrau oil refinery in August.
It is said that the country faces with the problem of providing harvesting with fuel and lubricants, and is trying to direct oil producing companies to domestic market. However, every oil refinery faces with the fact that it is beneficial for oil producers to export than direct the oil to domestic refineries.
The prime-minister is said to have asked Chevron to assist in the development of the method to determine the expenses at the preparation of the assets of the Caspian pipeline consortium (CPC) project.
He said that in February preliminary estimated expenses had been presented which had not had the expenses provided by the contract.
It is expected that CPC will be put into operation in the middle of the next year.
Today final deal was made between Kazakhstan and Chevron on selling 5% of state owned block in Tengizchevroil for $660 mln.
The prime-minister has also met with the representative of British Petroleum in Kazakhstan, Scot Kerr, who said that the company was willing to participate in purchase and sales of crude oil on domestic market.
He added that the governmental structures would assist the company.
