Almaty has great potential as a financial center - N. Nazarbayev
/IRBIS, May 13, 2011/ - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said that Almaty has great potential as a financial center, the press service of the President reported.
As indicated, on May 12, Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with activists in Almaty.
"Important question is the further development of Almaty as a major regional financial center. One of the promising directions is Islamic finance" - was stated in the message.
It is noted that work is ongoing to implement the Program of placement of shares of domestic companies within population of the Republic ("people's IPO "). This program will give an additional impetus for the development of regional financial center of Almaty. In this case, the RFCA should create favorable conditions for broad public involvement.
"The president said that Almaty has great potential as a financial center. National Bank and major second-tier banks have not been relocated to Astana. They create a certain image of the city and provide significant revenue to the city budget", - was stated in the message.
