Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarussia are independently negotiations on accession to WTO
/IRBIS, June 1, 2010/ - Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus are negotiating their own entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), reported today by Mrs. Zhanar Aitzhanova Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan at a government meeting.
"By joining the WTO, as you know, the statement was made by Mr. Vladimir Putin Russian Prime Minister that we will now embark on agreed terms," - said Mrs. Zh. Aitzhanova.
"But in fact we, all three states, are conducting separate negotiations on accession to the WTO", - she said.
The Minister said that "on issues that fall within the competence of the Customs Union - such as the size of import customs duties and the regime of import of goods on these matters our positions will be agreed upon."
"That meant the prime minister - is the fact that Kazakhstan and Russia are at an advanced stage of the negotiation process, so it will be easier to negotiate with partners about how to harmonize the conditions in which decisions will be made by the Commission of the Customs Union", - she explained.
