The National Bank of Kazakhstan can raise the interest rate of refinancing up to 9.0%

/REUTERS, Astana, Raushan Nurshaeva, June 16, 06/ - The National Bank of Kazakhstan can raise the interest rate of refinancing up to 9.0% from 8.5 soon as regularly, as one of the way to hold the inflation, deputy chairman of the Central bank informed.

"In the nearest future the National Bank will be expelled to reconsider its interest rates again," - Gulbanu Aymanbetova said on Friday in the Senate.

"Obviously, now, we will be reconsidering the interest rate of refinancing. Probably, it will be increased up to 9.0%," - deputy chairman of the Central bank informed.

According to her words, inflation in May "by annual rate" reached 9.0%.

The National Bank said earlier that it planned to hold inflation rate in 2006 within limits of 8.5%.

In 2005 consumer prices grew by 7.6% by annual average rate.
