Results of the Exchange Simulator training project in 2019

On May 17, 2019, the closing ceremony of the KASE student project dubbed "The Exchange Simulator" aimed at improving the financial literacy of young people who want to expand their knowledge about the stock market and gain practical investment skills took place.

Over the past few years, the project has been held within the framework of the global programme for raising financial literacy of young people and children dubbed Global Money Week, which was implemented in more than 130 countries.

This year, the project is being implemented for the 11th time. The interest of students to the "The Exchange Simulator" is growing. More than 7.5 thousand students from 80 universities in Kazakhstan, countries of near and far abroad took part in the project during its history.

The training trading on KASE was conducted from April 1 to April 30, 2019 as part the Exchange Simulator project. The project lasted one month and 1,167 students from 46 universities took part in the project. As a result of the competition, there were 30 winners from seven universities (Kazakh-Russian International University, International Information Technology University (IITU), Eurasian National University named after Leo Gumilyov, NARXOZ University, KIMEP University, Kazakhstan-German University, Turan University).

The total volume of transactions reached KZT5,989.9 mln, the number of transactions amounted to 13,898.

The maximum volume of transactions per person came to KZT1,745.3 mln, the maximum number of transactions per person was 790.

This year, KPMG will provide three educational sets to the competition winners, which will help them increase their competitiveness at the market through advanced knowledge.

The experience had shown that the competition not only helps to understand the stock market, but also helps students and teachers undergo internships and get a job at financial institutions.

In turn, this is a unique opportunity for partner companies and participants of the project to get young employees with analytical skills and having experience of investing using stock exchange simulator.

The competition was supported in various years by more than 10 companies of the financial sector, the Mayor’s Office of the city of Almaty, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
