On October 23, 2019, KASE and Refinitiv held a panel discussion "ESG: A New Reality or a Hype?".
Participants of the event discussed changes in global financial markets, a fresh approach of international investors on the work of public companies related to environmental, social responsibility and corporate governance (Environmental, Social and Governance, ESG), what impact ESG has on financial performance and investment attractiveness of companies.
Natalya Khoroshevskaya, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, was a speaker representing KASE. The speaker noted that investors and companies in Kazakhstan pay more and more attention to ESG. The Exchange supports compliance with these criteria. In 2015, KASE joined the UN Sustainable Securities and Exchanges Initiative, and in 2016 developed a report on environmental, social responsibility and corporate governance criteria, which has been updated in 2018.
Representatives of the financial and legal divisions of Kazakhstani companies participated in the event.
