KASE Talks - Open Lectures (April)

On April 20, 2018, the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) held its second open lecture KASE Talks on Kazakhstan's financial market on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. Prominent Kazakh financiers, who have made significant contribution to the making of the financial system and the financial market of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will be speakers at this project.

The next speaker of KASE Talks was former KASE President Damir Karasayev, who headed the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange from April 1999 to March 2002.

Damir Karasayev made a great contribution to the development of Kazakhstan's securities market and stock trading. The KASE in-house trading system was developed and put into operation, regular trading in government securities, shares and bonds of Kazakhstani and foreign issuers in the secondary market was launched, the system of admittance to the Kazakhstan Eurobond market was implemented, which has not undergone significant changes until now, thanks to his active involvement. Damir Karasayev managed the launch of exchange auctions on placement of corporate bonds of Kazakhstan issuers and tbe admittance of first securities of municipal authorities to trading on KASE. Auto repo market, so popular over the next 17 years, was designed and launched under his leadership. As a member of the Expert Council of the National Securities Commission of Kazakhstan, he participated in the development of legislation on regulation of the domestic securities market.

Damir Karasayev has implemented several successful projects abroad and now has extensive international experience in creating and developing the business.

The purpose of KASE Talks is to raise awareness of the broad public audience on the conditions in which the financial market of the country has emerged and main factors that affected its development.

The objective of KASE Talks is to promote the financial market of Kazakhstan further and to provide information on the Exchange’s activities and the stock market as a whole.
