/KASE, September 7, 2018, August 20, 2018 news repeat/ – Kazakhstan Stock
Exchange (KASE or the Exchange) informs that from September 10, 2018, the
results of trading in the US dollar with settlements in tenge on the next
working day (T+1) - USDKZT_TOM, will be applied for rate fixing on the KASE
foreign exchange market. Prior to this date, the weighted average exchange rate
of the national currency to the US dollar was used as the rate fixing
instrument with settlements on the trading day (T+0) - USDKZT_TOD.
The purpose of this change is to create more representative indicator on the
foreign exchange market in the free floating exchange rate regime for the
tenge.
Relevant amendments were made to internal documents of the Exchange
"Regulations of Trades and the Confirmation System Operation" and
"Methodology for Calculating Indicators of the Foreign Exchange Market".
For the USDKZT_TOM instrument, the morning trading session of the Exchange
is the main one, the daily trading session is an additional one. For the rest of
the instruments of the KASE foreign exchange market, the concepts of "basic"
and "additional" trading sessions are not used.
From this date, the average weighted exchange rate of the national currency to
the US dollar with T+1 (USDKZT_TOM) settlements fixed as at 3:30 p.m. Astana
time based on the results of two trading sessions of the stock exchange –
morning (main) and day (additional) sessions – is set as an official exchange
rate of the national currency to the US dollar for the next working day after
the day of trades.
The results of trades in foreign currencies on KASE are published on the
Exchange's website at
http://kase.kz/en/currency/
KASE draws the attention of the market participants to the fact that weighted
average US dollar rate with settlements T+1 in tenge calculated based on the
results of the morning session will be used by the Exchange for various purposes
envisaged by internal documents of KASE as an indicator determining the value
of tenge in the world's main reserve currency for the current day.
