/REUTERS, Лондон, 04.11.04/ - Международное рейтинговое агентство Moody's Investors Service повысило прогноз рейтингов казахстанского банка Каспийский до позитивного со стабильного - долгосрочного по депозитам в иностранной валюте "Ва3" и финансовой устойчивости "Е+". В сообщении агентства говорится, что изменение прогноза обусловлено следующими факторами: - постепенным укреплением финансовой базы в результате экспансии банка в розничный сектор и повышение внимания к обслуживанию среднего и мелкого бизнеса; - повышением прибыльности в связи с тем, что кредитование подобного бизнеса является более доходным; - сокращением клиентской концентрации в обеих частях баланса; - поддержанием хорошего качества активов; - адекватной капитализацией. Долгосрочный депозитный рейтинг "Ва3" продолжает включать в себя ожидаемую ограниченную поддержку со стороны властей Казахстана в случае возникновения подобной нужды. MOODY'S CHANGES OUTLOOK ON BANK CASPIAN'S Ba3/E+ RATINGS TO POSITIVE (KAZAKHSTAN) Limassol, November 04, 2004 - Moody's Investors Service has changed the outlook on the Ba3 long-term foreign currency deposit rating and E+ financial strength rating (FSR) of Kazakhstani institution Bank Caspian to positive from stable. Moody's said that the positive outlook on Bank Caspian's E+ FSR reflects (i) a gradually strengthening franchise as a result of the bank's expansion into retail banking and its more active focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); (ii) improving profitability as this type of lending is usually a higher-margin business; (iii) declining customer concentrations on both sides of the balance sheet, thus reducing the bank's vulnerability to the performance of a small number of large borrowers and to withdrawals of chunky deposits; (iv) maintained good asset quality despite recent high growth; and (v) adequate capitalisation. According to Moody's, the Ba3 deposit rating continues to incorporate an expectation of limited support from the Kazakhstani authorities, should the need arise, reflecting Bank Caspian's growing importance to the national banking system. However, Moody's cautioned that any external support from the country's financial authorities, in case of distress, might be of a limited nature; the extent and timeliness of such support are somewhat uncertain but are well captured in the Ba3 rating. Bank Caspian is headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan and had total IFRS- consolidated assets of KZT61.6 billion (US$435.5 million) as of 31 August 2004.
