Operation on mountainous region of Sokolovskaya mine is stopped due to accident - press release of SSPU JSC

/SSPU JSC, October 5, 05/ - Operation of mountainous grounds of Sokolovskaya mine of underground ore-management SSPU JSC, engaged directly in ore production, is stopped till consequences of accident will be liquidated. As it was informed earlier, on October 3, 2005 at 0:12 in mine there was sudden break of water in mountainous excavation of horizons: - 190 m.; - 260 m.; - 330 meters. Night shift of 171 people only went down in mine, when accident happened. Owing to professional and organized actions of ore miners management, 169 people were evacuated in emergency order to the surface. It cannot be without victims - two workers died. Families of died will be rendered assistance. Specialists of State control and supervision management in ES field of Kostanay oblast, and also representatives of Labor ministry department of social RK population protection of Kostanay oblast started to investigate reasons. For liquidation of consequences of accident necessary technique and specialists are attracted. Mountainous works on watered horizons will be resumed after completion of restorative works. Expanded committee together with specialists continues their work. As per mountainous and hydrogeological conditions, Sokolovskaya mine is related to category of complicated. Nearly 100 meters in depth are overlying rocks (deposits of sand and loam), and also watered grounds with expand net of underground waters with three water-bearing horizons. Sokolovsk underground ore-management develops Northern ground of Sokolovsk field by underground mean. Production technology with collapse of ore and adjoining rocks is applied. Ore production volume - 3 m. tons a year. Project for increase of capacity to 5 m. tons of ore a year is considered. [2005-10-05]
