Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC in January-May increased production of alumina by 3.3%

/Interfax-Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, June 15, 05/ - Aluminum of Kazakhstan
JSC (Pavlodar oblast of Kazakhstan, on the north) in January-May of 2005
produced 628.7 th. tons of alumina, by 3.3% more, than in similar period of
last year.
Enterprise's press service informed about it to Interfax-Kazakhstan agency.
Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC in 2005 plans to produce nearly 1.5 m. tons of
alumina versus 1.465 m. tons in 2004.
As press service informed, in the beginning of the current month for the first
time in last 10 years Pavlodar aluminum plant was stopped for two days to
conduct planed preventive works on main and auxiliary equipment.
"In short time huge volume of works was completed, first of all calcinations
furnaces of hydrometallurgical shop. This will allow to work without breaks
during future ten years", - press service notes.
Press service reminded, that till the end of 2005 enterprise plans to complete
construction of gas plant, it will allow to transit calcinations furnaces in
new heating - synthetic gas, which will be produced in process of coal burning.
At present calcinations furnaces (hydrometallurgical shop) work on mazut.
Construction of gas plant was started in 2004. Cost of project, which is
related to rapidly repayable equals to nearly $12.8 m.
Besides, press service informed, that at present Aluminum of Kazakhstan
JSC modernize redistribution of red mud condensation and ablution, it will
allow to raise their production, ecological safety and energy efficiency. This
project was elaborated by enterprise's scientific research center jointly with
technical specialists. Center's scientists elaborate new technologies for
utilization of industrial wastes with expansion of nomenclature of production,
science intensive technologies are introduced. Enterprise's annual expenses
for science equals to %700 th.
Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC is included in ten leading producers of
alumina in the world.
Enterprise joints Pavlodar aluminum plant (head enterprise), Torgaiskiy and
Krasnooktyabrskiy bauxite mine (in Kostanai oblast, on the north), Keregetas
limestone mine (in Pavlodar oblast) and Heat station-1.
Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC is a member of Eurasian industrial
association, where Sokolovsko-Sarbaiskoye ore mining and processing
production unit JSC (Kostanai oblast, on the north), Eurasian energy
corporation JSC (in Pavlodar oblast, on the north), enterprises of Kazchrome
transnational corporation, and also Shubarkol Komir coal mine (Karaganda
oblast, in the center) are included.
