AFP produced 1.5 m tones of ferrochrome silicon ifrom its launch day - press service

/INTERFAX - KAZAKHSTAN, Pavlodar, February 23, 05/ - Aksu ferro-alloy plant (AFP, in Pavlodar, Southern Kazakhstan) produced 1.5 m tones of ferrochrome silicon from the moment of initial produce of this product by the plant. AFP press-service released a corresponding statement. According to the information the ferrochrome silicon production at AFP started in 1973. In the first year of ferrochrome silicon production it was marketed only under one trademark FHС40, while from 1980 it was coupled with FHC48. The press service noted that beginning from 1999 due to increase in demand for ferrochrome silicon at world markets the AFP boosts its production. Thus, according to the information presented in 1973 AFP produced 7.5 th tones, in 2004 this amounted 91.1 th. Indicator for 2003 was not cited. Ferrochrome silicon accounted for 10.1% of total production of ferroalloys at AFP in 2004 and 2003. Ferrochrome silicon if the product of alligation of silicon and ferrum. It is used as revitalizing agent at refined ferrochrome production or deoxiding agent at steel production. As informed by 2004 results AFP produced 1,027,606 tonnes of ferroalloys, up by 3.5 % on y-o-y. AFP employs over 6.2 th people and is the affiliate of TNK Kazchrome JSC. AFP was launched in 1968. Plant has furnances with capacities from 21 to 63 megavoltamper. The produce is imported to Japan, USA, Europe and Russia. Apart from AFP Kazchrome also owns Aktobe ferroalloy plant and Donskoy GOK (Aktobe oblast, Western Kazakhstan). [2005-02-23]
