Kazakh supplier of Magnitogorsk increased ore output by 7.9% in January- November of 2004

Sokolovsk-Sarbayev ore mining and processing company (SSGPO) increased
iron ore output 7.9% y/y up to 32.708 million tons in January-November of 2004
in comparison with the similar period of the last year, the company informed.
SSGPO is a major supplier of the largest in Russia ferrous metallurgy
enterprise - Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant.
The company previously informed about intentions to increase ore output in 2004
up to 37.7 million tons from previously planned 35.5 million. In 2003 SSGPO
produced 33.6 million tons of ore.
Manufacturing complex during the same period of 2004 processed 32.702 m.
tons of crude ore, what by 7.8% exceeds index of the same period of the last
year.
Mined ore is processed in factories of the enterprise to produce marketable
iron ore: concentrated product and pellets. Consumers are Kazakhstan
enterprises, Russia and China.
SSGPO in January-September of this year exported to Russian, Kazakhstan and
Chinese consumers 13.464 m. tones, what by 5.3% exceeds the index of the
similar period of the last year.
According to data of Kazakhstan stock exchange as on January 1, 2004,
Committee of State Property possesses 39.5% shares of the enterprise, Central
Asian Trust Company possessed 58.89%.
SSGPO is a member of Eurasian industry association, which unites a number of
large metallurgical and power companies.
