Kaztranscom is the second main-line communication operator in Kazakhstan

/REUTERS, Almaty, December 7, 04/ - Kaztranscom, which is controlled by
the state oil and gas holding Kazmunaygas, has received the license for
rendering services of international and intercity communication, monopoly for
which belonged till present to Kazakhtelecom, says Kaztranscom.
In 2004 a new law about communication took effect in Kazakhstan, it
provides the gradual liberalization of the market. 50% of Kazakhtelecom
belong to the state.
"We position ourselves as an operator for operators", - said deputy general
director of Kaztranscom Askar Yerzhanov at the press-conference on Tuesday.
As he says, rendering main-line communication services for mobile operators
and internet-providers, Kaztranscom plans to offer lower tariffs than
Kazakhtelecom does, however "there will be no damping".
