In March 2024, Batumi Oil Terminal LTD resumed dockless loading of dark oil
products produced at Kazakhstan oil refineries onto Aframax tankers in batches of
60,000 - 80,000 tons. The cargo is then sent to European countries.
Loading of dark oil products of Kazakhstan origin is planned to be carried out on a
monthly basis. The resumption of this work is associated with the diversification of
transit and transport routes for the transportation of goods.
Shipments of fuel oil and VGO (vacuum gas oil) in large quantities have actually
been stopped since October 2018. Shipment of dark oil products in large
quantities onto Aframax tankers allows clients of Batumi Oil Terminal LTD to
reduce transportation costs, which in turn makes the route of Kazakhstani cargo
for export through Batumi more attractive and will increase their transshipment
volume. Large-capacity oil tankers of the Aframax type are designed for the
transportation of crude oil and petroleum products in an unlimited navigation area.
The length of the tanker is 250 meters, width – 44 meters, deadweight – 114
thousand tons.
