AES energy company to invest more over $100 m in its Kazakhstani branches

/Kazakhstan today, January 27, 04/ - AES energy company intends to invest more than $100 m in its Kazakhstani branches. The announcement released today, on January 27 by the press service of AES Kazakhstan states about this fact. Special attention will be drawn to the development of AES Ekibastuz GRES, the capacity of which to be expanded from 1,200 Mwt to 4,000 Mwt. The company also intends to schedule the plan for capacities rehabilitation: one energy block in each two years. The plan for strategic development and investments by AES in electricity industry of Kazakhstan should be approved during the meeting of managers from various Kazakhstani enterprises as well as European and American branches of AES. Executives are to discuss plan for future investments by the corporation in energy sector of Kazakhstan, security issues, and determine the main directions for the development and growth of AES enterprises in this region. The meeting will be held in the beginning of February of 2004 in Ust- Kamenogorsk; more than 60 top executives of the company will participate in this event. According to the press release, approval of a plan for further investments reflects the confidence of AES in perspective economic development of Kazakhstan, growing needs of an energy complex and export potential of the country.
