/Kazakhstan today, December 29, 03/ - The management of MAEC
Kazatomprom has developed a turnaround program. Baurzhan Ibrayev, the
general director of MAEC Kazatomprom LLP informed about this fact at official
celebration of the Power Engineer's day, a correspondent of KZ-today reports.
Kazatomprom Company, the head company, spent KZT200 m for facilities
renewal of Mangyshlak atomic plant in 2003. In the beginning of the next year
additional KZT250 m is supposed to be spent. Thereby, the main and the most
important task - replacement of a fixed assets - is going to be resolved,
because almost entire facilities require replacement, modernization and
rehabilitation. As B. Ibrayev noted, fixed assets replacement should be made
within short-term period. The schedule of works has been already composed in
order to provide cities and enterprises with 100 percent reliable energy
supply. "At present no 100% reliability exists, as damages, emergency
situations take place", -B. Ibrayev noted.
Today automation of a technological process of seawater conversion has been
almost completed, sanitary conditions at plants have been improved, 2
energyblocks are being repaired, what will enable to expand plant capacity by
200 megawatt since March 2004 (working capacity of MAEC is 30 megawatt).
B. Ibrayev also informed that MAEC Kazatomprom LLP finished the fiscal year
2003 with losses.
