National Bank of Kazakhstan has briefly characterized the Republic's GS market in October of 2003

/IRBIS, November 20, 03/ - According to the data of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, which were given in its monthly press-release, which was dedicated to the current market situation, in October of 2003 issue volume of government securities (GS) of the Ministry of finance in comparison with September of 2003 increased 3.6 times to KZT38.3 bn., and volume of securities in circulation increased by 25% to KZT164.6 bn. During October there were first held auction on 6-, 7-, 8- and 9-year MEOKAM, total floatation volume of which equaled to KZT 8.6 bn. Thus, at present all types of mid-term securities issued by the Ministry of finance are in circulation. Besides, short-term 6-month МЕККАМ were issued in October, yield of which rose from 5.10% APR (April 28, 03) to 5.90% APR, mid-term 3-year МЕОКАМ, yield of which also rose - from 5.76% APR (September 15, 03) to 6.19% APR, and 5-year МЕОКАМ, yield of which fell from 6.30% APR (September 22, 03) to 6.19% APR. Redemption of GS of the Ministry of finance, including interest payment, in October of 2003 was KZT5.5 bn. Issue volume of the National Bank's notes decreased by 28% to KZT19.2 bn., and their yield rose from 5.07% to 5.12% in accordance with prolonging of circulation term. Volume of notes in circulation decreased by 14% to KZT179.6 b. That was concerned with the increase of the Ministry of finance's GS issue. [2003-11-20]
