Starting from October 1TH, NAC Kazatomprom CJSC in cooperation with foreign partners is launching a large-scale project on developing of Zarechnoe uranium field

/IRBIS, September 26, 03/ - NAC Kazatomprom CJSC (Almaty), whose bonds
are circulating under official "A" listing category of Kazakhstan Stock
Exchange (KASE), spread a press release which informs that official ceremony of
launching large-scale activities on realization of joint project at Zarechnoe
field, which is located in Southern Kazakhstan oblast, will be held on
October1, 2003 in Shymkent (Kazakhstan).
For realization of the project Zarechnoe, Kazakhstani-Russian-Kyrgyzian Joint
Venture with foreign investments was created and officially registered on
December 29, 2001. It was originated with the purpose of developing mutually
beneficial scientific-technical and trade-economical collaboration between the
Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and Kyrgyz Republic in uranium
prospecting, exploitation, developing and extracting fields. The shares of JV
Zarechnoe CJSC was distrubited as following: NAC Kazatomprom CJSC - 45%,
Atomredmetzoloto OJSC - 45%, Kara baltinskii gorno-rudnyi combinat OJCS -
10%.
According to the plan kazakhstani uranium extracted at Zarechnoe field will be
processed at Kara-Baltinskii combinat, and be consumed in Russia. Today,
estimated deposits at Zarechnoe field comprise 19 th tones of uranium.
