According to the World Nuclear Association NAC Kazatomprom CJSC is the fourth among uranium-mining companies

Kazatomprom CJSC (Almaty), whose bonds are circulating under official "A"
listing category of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), spread a message
which says that according to the report of the World Nuclear Associations
(London), received by NAC Kazatomprom CJSC on September 15, 2003,
company occupies the forth place in the list of uranium mining companies.
According to the information received, three world leaders on uranium
mining are French company Cogema (19% of the volume of world mining),
Canadian Cameco (17%) and Australian ERA (11%). NAC Kazatomprom
CJSC extracted 8% of uranium mining volume in the world, which consisted
to 2,800 tones of uranium. Thus, NAC Kazatomprom CJSC moved away
from fifth position in 2001 to the fourth.
Message says that currently, the volume of uranium mining increased thanks
to NAC Kazatomprom's debugging of its old fields Uvanas, Vostochnyi
Mynkuduk, Kanzhugan, Yuzhnyi Moinkum and Severnyi Karamuryn and
starting industrial exploration of new fields Yuzhnyi Moinkum and Yuzhnyi
Karamuryn. A programmed task for NAC Kazatomprom is to increase of the
volume of natural uranium extraction up to 15 th tones a year by 2028, by
doing so, occupy the first place in world in this area.
It is planned that volume of uranium extraction will be increased at the
expense of explored, but yet not in use fields Zarechnoe, Zhalpak, Irkol with
total deposits of 2 th tones, Centralnyi Mynkuduk with 81 th tones, Kharasan
with 160 th tones, a part of Inkai field with 130 th tones and unique
Budenovskoe field with predicted 130 th tones of deposits.
NAC Kazatomprom CJSC is the national operator of exporting and importing
of uranium and other materials of double usage. NAC Kazatomprom
consists of ore managing branches on uranium mining (Centralnoe and
Stepnoe ore management #6), daughter companies Ulbinskii
Metalurgicheskii Zavod (90%) and Volkovgeologia OJSC (90%), MAEC -
Kazatomprom LLP (100%), Institue of High Technologies LLP (50%), stake
at joint ventures Inkai, Katko, Zarechnoe and UKR TVS
