Kazakhtelecom OJSC continues digitalization of the republic's oblast centers

/IRBIS, June 26, 03/ - National communication operator Kazakhtelecom spread
press-release today, which says about digitalization of oblast centers of the
republic. In particular it's said that in Uralsk city Kazakhtelecom set in
exploitation a new digital telephone station ATS-21/22 with total capacity of
15,360 numbers, instead of the old ten-step ATS-3 with total capacity of 9,860
numbers.
According to the company's information as the result of introduction of the new
station total assembled capacity of digital ATS of Uralsk increased to 32,640
numbers, and digitalization percent rose from 47.4 to 64.
Besides, the press-release says that "transportation telecommunication network
on the basis of fiber-optic communication line and digital technologies of
transferring systems SDH, with total length of 32.14 km functions in the city,
with the help of which any damage in eth network will be unnoticed for
subscribers, for organization of high-quality interstation communication of all
ATS of Uralsk city, and it also gives the possibility to transfer all types of
information, including data transfer, video information and other multimedia
services."
The new technology of organization of city main channels lets specialized
Center of technical exploitation make the non-stop monitoring for functioning
of the city's whole telephone network, and also on-the-fly react in case of
technical errors appearance.
In accordance with introduction of the digital station and organization of
additional load on telecommunication networks of Uralsk there was set in
exploitation equipment of general signaling (OKS #7), and as the result of it
speed of information exchange increased and possibilities of services rendering
to subscribers expanded. Besides, in the oblast's center, for comfort of
subscribers, who call from other regions of the country, and also in accordance
with digitalization of Uralsk, there was set in operation single six-digit
numbering.
Besides Kazakhtelecom has notified about developing of communication by the
company. In order to render new communication services and improve quality of
rendered services there is being made modernization of rural ATS in the oblast
and changing of analogous equipment into digital. Within last 3 years there
were set 4 digital rural stations with total capacity of 2,352 numbers. Within
last several years at 55 analogous ATS of the oblast there was set equipment of
ANI (automatic number identification), due to which rural citizens, obtained
the possibility to use automatic international and intercity communication.
Within the framework of building of National sputnik communication network 29
sputnik stations DAMA function in the oblast, in order to provide remote
settlements with communication, three of which were set this year in
settlements Bisen, Muratsai and Taldyapan. Till the end of the year the company
intends to set 2 more sputnik stations in Algabas and Toganas.
Besides the company has informed about expansion of universal pay phone
network. As of January 1 of 2003 there were 223 acting universal pay phones in
the oblast, of them, 203 - in Uralsk. Within 2002 there were set 52 pay phones,
of them: 32 - in the city, 20 - in oblast's regions. Pay phones were set in the
most attended objects, which are situated along the oblast's automobile roads,
in rural hospitals, shops and public call boxes, and also at customs offices,
which are near the border with Russia.
Within 2002 Kazakhtelecom organized public call boxes by means radio extender
sets in 18 settlements. Within the framework of this project setting of 37
radio extenders in the oblast's settlements, where there are no telephones, is
planned for this year.
Number of Internet users, which have access to Web-resources with the help of
services, which Kazakhtelecom renders, increased last year by more than 259%,
and their total traffic was about 12 m. minutes of working in the Internet.
Telephone density of West-Kazakhstan oblast is 11.2 sets per 100 people, in
cities - 18.6 sets per 100 people and in settlements - 4.9 sets per 100
people.
Total volume of Kazakhtelecom's investments into modernization and
development of telecommunications of West-Kazakhstan oblast in 2002 equaled
to KZT268 m. According to the company's data in 2003 volume of investments will
equal to KZT483 m., including for modernization of rural telephone stations
KZT102 m.
