/Kazakhstan today, December 25, 02/ - Project of the new Kazakhstan oil
pipeline Kumkol-Aralsk-Kenkiyak is on the stage of technical and economic
grounds. About this today, December 24 at the press-conference in Almaty
was informed by deputy general director of KazTransOil CJSC Sabr
Yesimbekov.
In Yesinbekov's opinion "realization of the new project Kumkol-Aralsk-
Kenkiyak, together with setting in exploitation oil pipeline Kenkiyak-Atyrau
will allow to technologically integrate all three oil pipeline systems into the
single one, and improve by it possibilities on loading of domestic PR with
Kazakhstan oil, and also improve export potential of Kazakhstan oil
producing companies".
Approximate term of setting in exploitation Kumkol-Aralsk-Kenkiyak is the
end of 2004.
The existing oil transportation infrastructure of Kazakhstan and Russian
allows to transport Russian oil through oil pipeline Omsk-Pavlodar-Shymkent
bulk-oil terminal Atasu in Karaganda oblast. According to Yesimbekov's
information "in presence of guaranteed supplies of Russian oil by this
scheme, Kazakhstan, China and interested oil producing companies may
jointly build oil pipeline at the part Atasu-Alashankou (Kazakhstan-Chinese
border), which afterwards will be integrated into the system of oil pipeline
West Kazakhstan - China".
Building of this oil pipeline with the capacity of up to 20 m tons a year is to
be made in three stages. First stage - Kenkiyak - Atyrau is already being
realized, the second - Kumkol-Aralsk-Kenkiyak is on the stage of technical
and economic grounds, the third - from Atasu to Alashankou, with
simultaneous reconstruction of Karakoin-Barsengir-Atasu. Approximate term
of the project realization is 2007.
