120 promising fields have been revealed in Kazakhstan sector of Caspian sea

/Kazakhstan today, December 19, 02/ - "Today, according to results of exploration works, about 120 promising structures have been revealed in Kazakhstan sector of Caspian sea". About this today, December 19 at the conference "Oil and gas resources of Caspian region in global relations system" was stated by chief of oil industry department of the Ministry of energy and mineral resources of Kazakhstan Aidar Demeu. According to Demeu's information, "till present operations of fields explorations were made, mainly, within the frameworks of two projects - North-Caspian project and agreement between NAC Kazakhoil and Japanese national oil corporation. Works on the last project started in March of 1999 and expenses on the project equaled to about $50 m". Demeu reminded regarding the works on North-Caspian project that "after finishing technical works in 1997, there was signed agreement about foundation of consortium, which comprised six companies. At present, one of the six companies - Adjip KSO drilled 6 exploration wells at Kashagan". According to Demeu's data, in September of 2002 by the results of drilling exploration wells at the structure Kalamkas-sea, there was received oil inflow and at present the company is getting ready the project on estimation of this field. In 2003 the company intends to make big exploration drilling at structures Asatty, Kairat, South-western Kashagan. Today there have been prepared already manmade islands for these structures, assembling of drilling equipment is being made. Besides, according to Demeu's words, "soon NC Kazmunaigas will start making oil operations at the structure Zhambai. The Government has signed already the contract for exploration and production of oil". [2002-12-19]
